Stroke Exercise Program

The Stroke Exercise Program was established to help stroke survivors maintain their functional abilities once physical and occupational therapy is completed. 

 

Participants must come to each session with a caregiver and be medically stable and no longer active with physical or occupational therapy programs.

 

A physician referral is necessary to participate in the program.

 

Activities include:

  • Exercise to strengthen arms, legs and trunk
  • Exercise for walking and balance
  • Aerobic exercises
  • Speech and cognitive activities

 

Program goals:

  • Maintenance of functional abilities
  • Improved cardiovascular conditioning
  • Community re-integration
  • Adjustment to disability
