The Institute offers a disease-specific, patient-focused approach to neurological care. As a complement to the outpatient services offered at the Institute, Lakewood Hospital offers inpatient care with one of the region’s only Neuro Integrated Care Unit, as well as a Joint Commission designated Primary Stroke Center and a CARF accredited Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

General Neurology: Patients are able to receive comprehensive evaluation, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation services.

Neurosurgery: Our team of neurosurgeons provide expert diagnosis and treatment for brain tumors; a broad spectrum of spinal disorders such as degenerative spine diseases, spinal fractures and lumbar spinal stenosis; trauma; peripheral nerve disorders, among others.

Cerebrovascular Disease: Offers expert diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment for all cerebrovascular conditions, such as stroke and brain aneurysms. Advanced treatment options include the latest technology in endovascular coilings.

Headache Clinic:
Headache experts provide patients with a complete evaluation and treatment. The physician is also able to access an infusion room to offer patients intravenous infusions specific for headaches.

Adult and Pediatric Epilepsy Program: The program offers excellent clinical management and state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for the diagnostic evaluation and treatment for adults and children with epilepsy, including EEG testing.


Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Therapies
Experts from the Cleveland Clinic Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis provide evaluations and treatment for patients with MS as well as pharmaceutical therapies in the infusion center.Patients with MS have access to evaluations, follow-up care and treatment. 

Electromyogram (EMG) Testing: EMG and EEG testing read by board-certified neurologists, epileptologists and neuro-physiologists.

Neuro-rehabilitation and Spasticity Management:
Patients are able to receive evaluation of symptomatic therapies and rehabilitative interventions for spasticity in MS and other disorders of the central nervous system.

Movement Disorders: Providing treatment for abnormalities in muscle tone and motor control resulting from clinical disorders such as: Parkinson’s disease, Parkinsonism, Dystonia, Chorea, Huntington’s disease, Ataxia, Tremor, Myoclonus, Startle, Tics, Tourette syndrome, Restless legs syndrome, Stiff Person’s syndrome and gait disorders.

TCD/ Carotid Ultrasound Testing: Ultrasound testing used to see innerbody tissues, blood flow and carotid ultrasound procedures.

Neuromuscular Services:
Diagnosing and treating neuromuscular diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), peripheral nerve injury, myasthenia gravis and myopathies. Specialists successfully strive to apply the latest technology to help patients optimize their quality of life and minimize their disability.
