Walk to Change the Future of Diabetes

Diabetes is a serious disease and is growing at epidemic proportion. Did you know:

  • Every minute, three people are diagnosed with diabetes
  • More than 330,000 people in Northeast Ohio are living with diabetes
  • Cuyahoga County has the highest prevalence of diabetes out of the 88 Ohio counties
  • Today, in the US, 55 people will go blind from diabetes
  • Two out of three people with diabetes die from heart disease and stroke
  • Without proper management, diabetes shortens a person’s life span by an average of 10 years

The diabetes facts may be daunting, but you can make a difference.

Consider walking in the The American Diabetes Association’s 2009 Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes on Saturday, October 3 at the Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City.

The American Diabetes Association is the only non-profit organization supporting all 23.6 million Americans living with diabetes—including type 1 and type 2 diabetes; children and adults.

Join the Lakewood Hospital team as we Step Out to fight diabetes together! Just one step at a time we can change the future of diabetes.
