Senior Behavioral Health Unit - Now Open!
We are very excited to announce that our Senior Behavioral Health Unit, located on the second floor of the hospital, opened to patient care. Patients age 55 and older, who are undergoing acute psychiatric problems, will benefit from the secure, private and nurturing environment.
The opening of this 17-bed Unit marks the completion of another inpatient unit renovation associated with our strategic plan, Vision for Tomorrow. The multi-year plan encompasses a variety of changes to Lakewood Hospital that places a greater emphasis on improving the patient experience, establishing Centers of Excellence and enhancing the management of chronic disease.

Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospitals
Recently, the newly named Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospitals were announced. They will provide an integrated system of care for inpatient rehabilitation at main campus, Euclid Hospital and Lakewood Hospital. With 100 rehabilitation beds, these three units are distributed across Northeast Ohio and centrally coordinated to provide high quality, innovative rehabilitation services. Here are the details:
∗ Rehabilitation hospital on main campus opened on Jan. 1 as a 10-bed unit and will expand to 17 beds by mid-2011. John Lee, MD, will serve as medical director.
∗ Rehabilitation hospital at Lakewood Hospital expanded from 15 to 35 beds. Lakewood serves as the hub for inpatient rehabilitation on the west side under the leadership and medical direction of Dan Shamir, MD.
∗ Rehabilitation hospital at Euclid Hospital maintains its 48 beds. Euclid serves as the east side hub for inpatient rehabilitation under the leadership and medical direction of Patrick Schmitt, DO.
