Do you have a Lung Disease?

Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Can Help You Breathe Easier!

Breathing in and out sounds so simple, unless of course you suffer from lung disease. Everybody wants to get all we can out of living and to take advantage of every opportunity life has to offer; however, illness and disability can make this difficult.

Lakewood Hospital’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is designed to help you breathe easier and lead a more active life. The treatment program includes exercise, endurance training, energy conservation techniques and education.

We have a team of registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians and counselors - all dedicated to leading participants through a program designed to optimize functional status, reduce symptoms and improve physical conditioning in a motivating and supporting environment. Patients may also experience improved cognitive function and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression.

In a broad sense, pulmonary rehabilitation includes a spectrum of intervention strategies integrated into the lifelong management of patients with chronic respiratory disease and involves a dynamic, active collaboration among the patient, family, and health care providers.

Benefits of Pulmonary Rehab:

  • Improved Quality of Life
  • Improved Ability to Perform Activities of Daily Living
  • Learn About Lung Disease
  • Control and/or Alleviate Symptoms
