The Lakewood Hospital Diabetes and Endocrine Center, which is one of our Vision for Tomorrow focus areas, treats much more than diabetes. The board-certified Endocrinologists offer care to patients with other endocrine disorders, such as thyroid or lipid disorders. The body’s endocrine system consists of a complex group of glands that produce hormones, which is what controls many areas, such as reproduction, metabolism and growth and development. Hormones also control the way you respond to your surroundings and help provide the proper amount of energy and nutrition your body needs to function. Endocrinologists are able to help restore the normal balance of hormones in the body’s system.
